Witch Shit and Jesus : Navigating My Spiritual Journey

Witch Shit & Jesus

Growing up in a Catholic household, the concept of God was central to my upbringing. I found comfort in the rituals, prayers, and the belief in a higher power that watched over us all. As I’ve journeyed through life, however, my spiritual path has taken a more eclectic turn—one that some might find unexpected.

I’ve come to embrace what I lovingly refer to as “Witch Shit and Jesus.” It’s a blend of my Catholic roots with influences from Celtic spirituality and Wiccan practices. At first glance, this combination might seem contradictory or even controversial, but for me, it’s a harmonious exploration of my beliefs.

For as long as I can remember, the idea of a higher being, something greater than ourselves, has resonated deeply with me. In Catholicism, this higher being is God—an omnipotent, loving presence who guides and protects. It’s the God I’ve always associated with the divine force that shapes our world and our lives.

Yet, as I’ve delved into Celtic and Wiccan traditions, I’ve discovered a different perspective on spirituality—one that celebrates nature, honors the cycles of life, and embraces personal empowerment through rituals, spells, chants, and the use of crystals. Some may raise eyebrows at this blend of practices, but to me, it feels natural and fulfilling.

You might wonder: How can I reconcile these seemingly divergent paths? The truth is, I don’t see them as conflicting at all. For me, practicing Wicca is not about abandoning my Catholic upbringing; rather, it’s a way to deepen my spiritual connection and explore different facets of divine presence.

In Wicca, the divine is often seen as immanent within nature—a Goddess and God who manifest in the cycles of the seasons and the rhythms of life. This concept resonates with me on a profound level, complementing my belief in a transcendent God of Catholic tradition.

Some may question my choices or label me as unconventional, but I am secure in my spiritual journey. Embracing Wiccan practices isn’t about straying from God; it’s about seeking a deeper understanding of spirituality and finding resonance with different aspects of the divine.

At its core, my spiritual exploration is about seeking truth, connection, and personal growth. It’s about honoring my Catholic heritage while embracing new ways of experiencing and expressing faith. Whether I’m lighting a candle for a loved one, casting a circle under the moonlight, or attending Mass on Sundays, each practice enriches my spiritual life and brings me closer to the divine—however you may define her.

So, yes, you might think I’m a bit eccentric with my “Witch Shit and Jesus” approach, but to me, it’s a beautiful tapestry of faith and reverence. It’s about finding harmony in the diversity of spiritual experience and recognizing that there are many paths to the divine. And ultimately, isn’t that what matters most?
