Since Trump’s first presidential campaign, I have become increasingly uneasy with how some individuals wield Christianity as a justification for actions and words that seem to contradict the core teachings of love, compassion, and acceptance. It became clear to me that many were using God, Jesus, and the Bible to support less-than-Godly attitudes and intentions. This realization pushed me to take action and deepen my understanding of my faith. I made it a goal to reread the Bible alongside other religious texts, wanting to equip myself with the knowledge necessary to respond thoughtfully to such troubling dynamics.
